Jidai festival is held annually in
Kyoto on October 22. It was first held in 1895. The Jidai festival is one of Kyoto's
three great festivals now famous. The festival held the transfer of the capital to Kyoto in 794, the 1100 years that it remained the capital until it was moved to Tokyo, and the finishing of the
Heian Jingu Shrine where the procession end. The procession composed seven period and eighteen lines. It begins with the
Meiji Restoration, corresponding with the end of the Kyoto capital in 1868, back to the founding of the capital with characters from the Heian period.
